5-star Georgia target Duce Robinson talks new commitment date

Duce Robinson, the No. 1 tight end in the 2023 class, was expected to commit on national signing day on Feb. 1, but delayed his commitment.

The Phoenix, Arizona, native is projected to sign with the Bulldogs, according to 247Sports crystal ball. However, Robinson (6-foot-6, 225 pounds) expects to be selected in the MLB draft this spring, and he has expressed interest in playing both football and baseball if he chooses the college route.

Robinson updated 247Sports on his commitment plans this week following a workout for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

“April 1 is the cutoff date, so I’ll have a decision by then. As far as when that date might be, I couldn’t really tell you. A hundred percent plan on committing and signing to a school and being there whenever move-in day is.”

Georgia and USC are battling for Robinson’s pledge. Texas also is reportedly in the mix for the No. 19 overall recruit.

“The coaches were gracious about it. I definitely haven’t made their lives easy, just with everything that has been going into this decision. My recruitment hasn’t been a normal recruitment, but at least I hope they understand that and the schools that we’ve narrowed it down to are really pushing and fighting for me. It means a lot that they’re still sticking with me through this.”

Robinson is ranked 123rd in Baseball America’s draft prospects rankings.
