5 people, 2 pets displaced after house fire in Moorpark
A house fire in Moorpark Friday afternoon displaced five people and two dogs, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
Fire officials were called at about 3:50 p.m. to a single-family home in the 100 block of 1st Street. The house is located in the residential area south of High Street.
When fire crews first arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the attic, said Fire Capt. Brian McGrath.

He said once inside the building they realized the fire hadn't started in the attic, but officials were unsure of its origin.
The fire was extinguished at approximately 4:15 p.m., and there was smoke damage throughout the house, he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Red Cross was called to assist two adults, three children and two dogs who were displaced by the blaze. No injuries were reported.
