A 5-year-old boy called 911 to order a McDonald's Happy Meal and a police officer delivered

A 5-year-old boy in Arizona had a big emergency –– he wanted a McDonald's Happy Meal –– so he called 911.

"Hi, is this McDonald's?" Charlie Skabelund is heard asking the 911 operator.

"McDonald's? No this is the Mesa Police Department. Do you have an emergency?" the operator asked.

"Can I get one Mc-Happy Meal?" Charlie said before hanging up the phone.

Charlie's parents had no idea he had called the police until the 911 dispatcher called back and asked to speak with his dad.

Kim Skabelund, Charlie's mom, told Inside Edition they were "completely surprised and a little embarrassed."

A police officer had to go by the house for a welfare check even though there wasn't an emergency. Officer Randolph "Scott" Valdez showed up with a surprise for Charlie –– a Happy Meal.

He also took time to teach Charlie when its appropriate to call 911, the City of Mesa Police Department said in a Facebook post.

"I felt like it was a good time to, you know, bring him a Happy Meal, but at the same time educate him," Valdez said.

Kim Skabelund said she was appreciative at how Office Valdez handled the situation with "such love and kindness."

Now Charlie knows to call 911 only for emergencies.
