4-year-old boy miraculously survives falling down a 70-foot cliff with nothing but bruises

A fun family hiking trip almost turned into a nightmare after a 4-year-old boy fell down a cliff.

While hiking near Princess Arch trail at Red River Gorge in Pine Ridge, Kentucky, the young boy slipped away from his parents and took “a tumbling fall off of a cliff,” the Wolfe County, Kentucky, Search & Rescue Team said in a Facebook post.

The boy was struck by multiple ledges and experienced drops of 30 feet – falling 70 feet in total, the post reads. WCSART said it was alerted to the situation around 2 p.m., but before help could arrive, the father had already leaped into action.

The boy's father told rescuers he went down the cliff to reach his son and decided to carry his son downhill and towards the highway, rather than attempt to go back up, where he was able to meet the search and rescue team.

“Incredibly, while the child was certainly scraped up and bruised, he appeared to be otherwise okay,” the search and rescue team said in the post. The boy was examined by paramedics and was released back to his parents.

“He was very talkative and very interested in superheroes,” the post said. “The only superhero present was him.”

WCSART told USA TODAY that the little boy is doing great since the incident, which was “nothing short of a miracle.”
