3 things we learned about Toledo football against Akron

Nov. 29—There weren't many people in attendance for Saturday's Toledo-Akron game, but the ones who did brave the chilly conditions in the Glass Bowl saw another UT demolition.

The Rockets' 49-14 win was their third straight to end the regular season, all with an offensive flair that had been missing early in the year. Not anymore.

Toledo isn't going to the Mid-American Conference championship game, but there's reason to be encouraged. For one, UT was in every game of the season. Second, the offense appears to have found its quarterback of the present and future. And No. 3, Vince Kehres and Craig Kuligowski's defense is championship worthy.

Here's what we learned in Toledo's win over Akron:

1. Any mystery about Finn is lone gone

The Central Michigan game feels like two seasons ago when you consider Finn's improvement at the quarterback position. In the month of November, he completed 74 of 109 pass attempts for 1,138 yards with 11 touchdowns and just one interception. His numbers are in line with some of the best quarterbacks in the country.

And Finn isn't just stuffing the box score with numbers, he looks good to the eye. He's more comfortable. He doesn't take unneeded sacks. He isn't turning the football over.

In a handful of starts, Finn has shown that he's Toledo's quarterback for 2022.

2. The young running backs look good

A blowout allowed several freshmen to play on Saturday, and Lamy Constant and Willie Shaw did their best to show fans what the future holds. Constant rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown on five carries and Shaw had 22 yards on four carries.

3. The Rockets are going to a bowl game

Where? Back to the Bahamas, where UT played Florida International in 2018, losing 35-32.

This time around, the Rockets will face Middle Tennessee State.
