Jun. 22—Three field hockey standouts from Berks have been named to the 2021-22 U.S. Women's National Team, USA Field Hockey announced Tuesday.

Twin Valley grads Ashley Hoffman and Kelee Lepage and Hamburg grad Karlie Heistand are part of the 36-player roster that was selected from a pool of about 150 athletes following evaluation from June 15-20 at the Young Women's National Championship at the regional training center in Virginia Beach, Va.

All three were members of the 2020 national team, which spent more than a year in individual and virtual training due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hoffman, with participation in 73 international competitions, is one of the most experienced members of the team. Only two players on the roster have more international appearances.

Hoffman, who won two NCAA titles at the University of North Carolina, made her international debut in March 2017.

Lepage and Heistand made their first national team in January 2020.

Lepage, who won a PIAA Class 2A title at Twin Valley with Hoffman in 2015, has appeared in four international competitions. She attended the University of Maryland.

Heistand, who won two national titles at Connecticut, has appeared in eight international competitions.

All three players were on the travel roster in May when Team USA continued its 2020-21 FIH Hockey Pro League season with two games in Belgium and two in London.

The team will resume training in August in preparation for the 2022 Pan American Cup, an FIH Hockey World Cup qualifier, set for Jan. 20-30 in Santiago, Chile.

Team USA did not qualify for this year's Olympics.

Boyertown grad Ali Campbell, who was also a member of the 2020 national team, was named to the U.S. Women's National Indoor Team last week.
