2A Track Roundup: Tumwater's Duncan Finishes Second in State in Long Jump

May 28—Tumwater's Alyssa Duncan took second in the long jump Friday in the 2A state track meet at Mt. Tahoma High School, highlighting the local performances in the 2A/3A/4A track championships.

Duncan's best jump came in at 18 feet, 1 inch — behind only Chayse Flick-Williams of Bellingham (18-7).

Duncan also took third in the 100 hurdles at 15.65.

Tumwater's Ava Jones had the fastest preliminary time in the 100 at 12.76 to qualify for Saturday's finals. She also ran a leg of the T-Birds' 4x100 relay team, which qualified for the finals. Teammate Annabelle Clapp had the best time in the 400 preliminaries to make the finals (59.39). Clapp and Jones both qualified for the 200 finals, as well.

W.F. West's Elaina Koenig had the fourth-best time in the 800 preliminaries (2:20.94) to qualify for the finals. Koenig also qualified for the finals in the 300 hurdles.

On the boys side, W.F. West's Elijah Annonen, Dakota Collins and Seth Hoff finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 2A boys pole vault — all with 12-foot-6 clearances. West Valley's Gavin Hoskinson won the event at 13-6.

Tumwater's Seth Weller finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.82 seconds, with Squalicum's Andre Korbmacher winning in 13.83.

Rochester's Talon Betts had the third-fastest time in the boys 200 preliminaries at 22.78 to move on to the finals.
