238 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Luzerne County Saturday; 9,264 statewide

Dec. 4—WILKES-BARRE — The latest Department of Health report on Saturday showed Luzerne County with 238 new cases of COVID-19 and five new deaths. The county's death count is at 998.

The county's total cases are now at 46,997 since the pandemic began last year.

Neighboring Lackawanna County has 25,946 cases and 552 deaths; Monroe County has 22,295 cases and 386 deaths.

The Department of Health on Saturday confirmed that as of 12 a.m. there were 9,264 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide cumulative total to 1,773,060.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of Nov. 19 — Nov. 25, stood at 12.1%.

Vaccination highlights

According to the CDC, as of Thursday, Dec. 2:

—Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.

—69.5% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

—Vaccine providers have administered 15,557,620 total vaccine doses, including 1,627,148 additional doses (which includes additional shots for immunocompromised individuals and booster shots).

—199,803 total pediatric vaccines doses (ages 5-11) have been administered.

—6,664,274 people are fully vaccinated; with 75,612 vaccinations administered since yesterday and a seven-day moving average of more than 37,400 people per day receiving vaccinations.
