Coffee has earned a bad reputation over the years thanks to acid reflux, heartburn and increased blood pressure.
It’s not all bad, though. Aside from its rich flavor and iconic fragrance, the highly caffeinated drink actually has a ton of health benefits.
High caffeine intake is also associated with a lower incidence of Parkinson’s disease thanks to a fatty acid with neuroprotective powers present in the drink, research shows.
Regular coffee consumption also reduces the risk of liver cancer by up to 50 percent, according to findings from a whopping 26 different studies.
Finally, drinking coffee in moderation, which is defined as 1 to 4 cups per day, helps to protect against heart failure, studies suggest. Be careful, though — this apparent benefit is lost when you consume 5 or more cups.
So go ahead, coffee drinkers — enjoy your daily fix. Rest as easily as you can as someone who’s hyped up on caffeine.
