Woman gives birth to surprise baby after 'crazy' hospital visit: 'How did you not know?'
A 23-year-old ballet instructor got the surprise of a lifetime when she went to the hospital for stomach pain and discovered that she was in labor.
In a TikTok video, Lizzie Quah of Bloomington, Illinois, shared the story of how she thought she was having the “worst period cramps of [her] entire life” when in reality she was giving birth.
“Put a finger down if you’re ever having the worst period cramps of your entire life and you get worried that you’re having another kidney stone so you have your mom take you to the E.R. at like 2:30 in the morning,” she says in the format of the viral “put a finger down” TikTok challenge.
“So you get admitted and in order to get the drugs for the kidney stone they have to make sure you’re not pregnant. So, because you’re in so much pain they end up just sticking a hand up there to make sure everything’s fine. Turns out you’re actually 8 cm. dilated in active labor having a baby that night and two hours later you push out a full-term baby.”

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Lizzie explained that she never knew she was pregnant since she never experienced any symptoms.
“I gained a little bit of weight, but only enough where I felt like I needed to get back into my workout routine,” she told BuzzFeed. “I was working more than I ever had in the last six months before she was born, and was eating really unhealthy. I had stopped going to the gym because I was so busy, so I attributed that to my slight weight gain. I was more tired than normal, and wanted to take more naps than I used to, but again I attributed that to working all the time.”
What’s more wild, Lizzie never had any reason to suspect she was pregnant since she “had every period.” This, she eventually learned, was because she had placenta previa, which “likely caused bleeding that I mistook for a period.”

“Placenta previa and anterior placenta are conditions in which the placenta completely covers either the cervix or the front of the uterus,” she further explained. “Which explains why I couldn’t feel kicks or movement.”
People were perplexed by Lizzie’s unbelievable birth story.
“Girl!?? How the hell did you not know!???” one person asked.
“Adding this to my list of fears, thnx!” another user added.
“My mouth dropped at 8 cm dilated,” a third person wrote.
Other people, meanwhile, noted that they had had similar experiences. (What?!)
“Same sis. 8 cm dilated as well!! Went in at 6 am and had her at 12 pm. 7lbs!” one person said.
“THIS HAPPENED TO ME,” another person commented. “I had an emergency c section.”
