Everlane launches fabric face masks that give back

As COVID-19 continues to heavily impact our world, retailers are stepping up to make fabric face masks that we can use as face coverings.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is currently recommending that people wear face coverings in public settings where it’s not possible to properly social distance. These face masks can be made at home from items you already have, but are extremely important as their use can “slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.”
If you aren’t up for fashioning your own face mask, no worries. Plenty of brands like Old Navy and Anthropologie have fabric masks available now — after all, let’s leave the medical-grade PPE for medical professionals. But one of the latest brands to create its own reusable face masks is Everlane.

We’re not at all surprised to see the environmentally-conscious brand pitching in, seeing as Everlane works with ethical factories and always uses high-quality materials to produce products that last. According to the product description, the fabric face masks are “made from a double-layer knit fabric we had on hand at our factory and features cotton-Lycra ear loops for a little stretch and a lot of comfort.”
Sold in packs of three (that are not available to be returned or exchanged, FYI!), Everlane’s mask packs are in stock in all black, navy stripe (pictured above) and gray stripe combinations. And the masks are made in the Los Angeles factory where the brand’s cult-favorite tees are produced!

There is also a charitable component to these masks, with the brand noting that for “every three-pack produced, we’ve donated a mask to Feeding America to help with their COVID-19 relief efforts.” A chance to keep our community healthy and give back sounds like a win-win to us.
Everlane notes that these cotton face masks are not FDA-approved and “are not intended for use in a medical or clinical setting nor to replace medical-grade PPE and measures recommended by the CDC.”
