Little boy thrilled to see grandparents through glass door in heartwarming video
Amid a world of people coping with being distanced from their loved ones, one little boy’s interaction with his grandparents is offering us a glimmer of hope.
Ashley Hutchinson-James, a millennial mom and wife from New Jersey, took to Instagram to share a video of her son, Avery, visiting his grandparents through a glass door for the first time during quarantine.

“Baby Avery saw his grandparents for the first time in 5 weeks this weekend and this was his reaction,” she wrote. “They love each other so much!”
In the clip, Avery can be seen bouncing around the porch of his grandparents’ home, excitedly giggling as both the elderly couple and the child’s parents gleefully look on. Frequently, the toddler stops to try and grab their hands through the glass door, in moments that feel as sweet as they do heart-wrenching.
Hutchinson-James added that her son was a little overwhelmed by the circumstances of the socially distanced visit, which was meant to protect all parties from the coronavirus.
“Not being able to spend time with the people you love is hard,” she explained. “I hate that Avery and my parents needed a physical barrier ( the screen door) to interact with one another but I’m glad they had this moment.”
“My Uncle is fighting for his life because of this treacherous virus and my mom has been taking it the hardest so this moment really cheered her up!” she added.
In a follow-up post, Hutchinson-James thanked her followers for their kind messages and provided an update on the health of her relative.
“Our family appreciates all the prayers for my Uncle as he continues to battle #covid19,” she wrote. “He’s still in critical condition and on a ventilator, but we are so grateful that he is alive and continue to pray for a healing miracle. All things are possible with God! Cherish every moment with your loved ones.”
