4 free yoga YouTube channels for every type of yogi

Yoga is good for the mind, body and soul. The ancient Indian practice combines strenuous physical poses with calming breathing techniques and mellowing meditation for a workout that shapes the body from the inside out.

Right now, in the wake of our global health crisis, virtually all yoga studios in America are closed for the foreseeable future. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t partake in the practice.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi looking to vinyasa flow from home or a parent trying to get their kid to exercise during quarantine, here are some free yoga YouTube channels you can use to keep calm and stretch on.

For nervous newbies: Yoga With Adriene

Adriene Mishler is the international yoga teacher behind the popular (and free) YouTube channel Yoga with Adriene. Her channel offers yoga workouts for “all levels, all bodies, all genders [and] all souls.”

On her eponymous channel, Mishler has free videos on things like beginner’s yoga, yoga for weight loss and total body yoga. Her videos are judgment-free, easy to follow along with and perfect for people of all shapes, sizes and abilities.

For mindful moms: Sarah Beth Yoga

If you’re a busy mom looking for a daily escape, Sara Beth Yoga has a treasure trove of free videos that will provide you with everything you need and more. Sarah Beth’s YouTube channel even has curated playlists that you can follow if you don’t want to worry about picking a video out every day, plus workouts and moves that help with issues like IBS and bloating.

For flexible fathers: Yoga With Tim

Yoga instructor Tim Senesi was doing at-home yoga workouts long before social distancing.

“I truly enjoy practicing at home,” Senesi wrote on his website. “In fact it was one of the many reasons I started my YouTube channel.”

On Tim’s YouTube channel — Yoga With Tim — you can access total body burns, power yoga flows and strenuous stretches. His classes are fast-paced and full-body, making them ideal for dads who want to work the mind and body all at once.

For chill children: Cosmic Kids Yoga

Like its name suggests, Cosmic Kids Yoga is a YouTube channel that provides free yoga videos geared toward children. Now that most kids are taking online classes (and therefore are not in gym class or participating in extracurricular sports), parents can use Cosmic Kids Yoga’s free videos to keep their children engaged, active and relaxed.
