Photo of son visiting father through window melts hearts: 'I’m sure that means the world to his dad'

A Facebook photo of a Minnesota man talking to his elderly father through a window has gone viral.

On March 15, Sandy Hamilton, a nursing assistant at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Anoka, shared a photo of Charlie Johnson communicating with his 88-year-old father Bernard through the window of the latter’s home.

“My assisted living is on lockdown so he comes every day to see his dad and they talk through the phone, sweetest thing ever,” Hamilton captioned the picture. “Consent was giving to post on social media.”

The picture has since gone viral, receiving over 900,000 shares and 21,000 comments.

“What a great son!!” one person wrote. “I’m sure that means the world to his dad!”

“My goodness,” another commented. “That’s so sweet.”

In an interview with KARE, Hamilton said she felt compelled to share the touching moment with friends and family.

“I broke down in tears when I seen it and I just wanted to share it with everybody else,” she said.

Johnson, who reportedly visits his father — a retired machinist — every day, said he’s been overwhelmed by the response the picture has gotten.

“People probably need it right now” he said. “The country’s in disarray a little bit and I think they need a little hope, support.”

According to the station, the man’s father suffers from several ailments and is on oxygen. Bernard has been living at the home for the past six months, it further adds.
