Trump donates quarterly salary to coronavirus relief efforts
As fears around the novel coronavirus continue to grow, it was announced that President Trump will be donating a portion of last year's salary to medical relief efforts.
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to share the news.
"President @realDonaldTrump made a commitment to donate his salary while in office," she wrote. "Honoring that promise and to further protect the American people, he is donating his 2019 Q4 salary to @HHSGov to support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain, and combat #Coronavirus."
Included in the announcement was a photo of the check for $100,000, made payable to the Department of Health.

Upon entering office, the president pledged to donate his quarterly salary to different agencies and organizations. In the past, he's supported health departments focusing on the opioid crisis, as well as the Surgeon General's Office, The Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
On Monday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the United States was now home to 108 confirmed and presumptive positive cases of the virus, 11 of which were confirmed to have been spread from person-to-person.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also confirmed New York City's second case, a man in his 50s who did not travel to any of the affected countries. Cases were also reported in Arizona, Georgia and Florida.
