On Monday, Feb. 10, guests waited 45-60 minutes in the freezing rain to get into the Alice & Olivia Fall 2020 presentation at the Highline Stages in New York City's Meatpacking District. Fashion influencers, editors and more stood umbrella to umbrella, and those without coverage used magazines to shield themselves, while VIP guests were shuffled in at the front. Once inside, however, all were treated to an elaborate set where models showed off an impressive collection.

Designer Stacey Bendet told Vogue that she was inspired by the bold and colorful interiors of her NYC apartment. The clothing style was a blend of bohemian, feminine and '70s rock glam, mixing print dresses, combat boots, puffed-sleeve tops, graphic T-shirts, chunky knits and black leather, which was actually environmentally safe faux leather. Several pieces were also designed using up-cycled fabric.

One stage showed a mix of black and white-striped ensembles with a blanket-like scarf that looked particularly cozy chic — especially based on the circumstances — against a garden setting filled with faux greenery.

Another stage showed models in a party-like setting — some eating candy, another playing cards — wearing baroque pattern mini dresses and gowns with gold-decorated combat boots.

Celebrity hair stylist for TRESemmé, Justine Marjan, added scattered crystals in some models relaxed, wavy hair. And manicurist Gina Edwards created long black and embellished nail looks using KISS imPRESS Press-on Manicure Couture Collection Nails in Lavish ($9.97) and KISS Salon Color Acrylic Nails, with accents using KISS Luxe Accents Sticker in Charm Bracelet.

A big stage in the back seemed to pull inspiration from the Italian Renaissance era with gold jacquard prints and art graphic T-shirts modeled around a throne amongst pink tapestries and rugs.

Models briefly chatted with guests and posed for pictures, creating a party-meets-presentation vibe. Some guests even popped up on stages to take their own selfies — famous Tik Tok start Addison Rae jumped up to dance next to models for her latest post.

Adding to the event, Glenlivet passed out Hot Toddy cocktails to guests. This New York Fashion Week, the Scotch Whisky brand partnered with Alice & Olivia to create a special-edition, bold purple bucket bag to honor its latest expression, 14 Year Old, which is finished in ex-cognac casks. (You can enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of the bags on the Glenlivet website.)

Although a tad chaotic within the presentation space, the collection felt authentic, modern and practical for the everyday fashion girl.

You can shop the spring collection and more from Alice & Olivia at Nordstrom, with sale pieces starting at $99.98.
