2 men arrested in connection to Virginia Beach shooting that killed 19-year-old, injured 18-year-old

Two men were arrested in connection with a July shooting in Virginia Beach that killed a 19-year-old and injured an 18-year-old.

The Virginia Beach Police Department responded to a shooting at the 5600 block of Lone Holly Lane just before 12:30 a.m. on July 20. Baker Woods Apartments, off Newtown Road, are at that address.

Officers found two men with gunshot wounds. The 19-year-old, Jakhari Hall of Virginia Beach, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The 18-year-old victim, who was not identified, sustained a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. He was in stable condition following his injuries, according to a release from Virginia Beach police.

Joshua James, 18, of Virginia Beach, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Johnathan Cook-Lawrence, 20, of North Carolina, was arrested Aug. 4. He was charged with accessory to murder after the fact and was extradited to Virginia Beach.

The case remains under investigation.
