18 TV Shows With Wedding Dresses I Really Want To Discuss
1.Yes: Hilary's dress on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
It's kind of perfect.
Any clothing that masterfully straddles the line between over-the-top and elegant is a win in my book.
Is the collar ideal? Not totally. Is the waistband a little low for my liking? Yeah. Do small flaws matter when we're dealing with this freaking dress? Not whatsoever.
2.No: Amy's dress on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
It's bad. It's so bad.
I don't even understand the appeal of this dress.
The only thing I really like about it is that Gina was originally going to wear it, at Amy and Jake's wedding. LOL.
3.Yes: The dress Monica ends up wearing for her wedding on Friends.
Sure, I'd try it on. Why not?
It's not all that similar to most wedding dresses I like, but it's nice.
The sleeves are good, the neckline is solid, and the whole vibe is classy. I'd surprise myself if I adored the dress after trying it on, but I'd try it on.
4.No: Bailey's wedding dress on Grey's Anatomy.
I stroooooooongly dislike this.
I have seen this picture so many times, and I am still cringing at it as I type.
Look, I don't enjoy mermaid dresses. Or ruffles like this. Or little stuck-on jewel things. I'm sure there are exceptions to all of those rules, but this dress is not one of them.
5.Yes: Wanda's dress on WandaVision.
It's secretly quite beautiful.
Shorter dresses are underrated.
I love a skirt that's big and fun, and I'm into the length here. The waistband is very big and it starts pretty high, but, hey, alright. I'll let it go.
6.No: Lorelai's dress on Gilmore Girls.
I know this wedding didn't happen (for many, many years) and Lorelai didn't wear this dress during a ceremony, but she wore it on the show, so it counts.
I'm sorry, Lorelai. I want to like it. I almost like it.
This is so up my alley, but the top part is bad! I'm not exactly sure why. I think it might be the fit? Maybe it's the mix of white and opaque? We may never know.
7.Yes: Cece's dress at her and Schmidt's wedding on New Girl.
I want to wear this exemplary dress, please.
Everything about it is a dream.
The silhouette, the neckline, the white with gold overlay, the simplicity. There's nothing I don't adore.
8.No: Pam's dress on The Office.
Her dress is the least memorable element of that wedding.
It's definitely not awful, but I wouldn't wear it.
I like the kind-of-flow-y mood a lot, but the whole thing is basically an eh. Plus, I don't favor a mini strap or a sparkly belt on a wedding dress.
9.Yes: Rachel's wedding dress on Friends.
There's no question that I would seriously debate buying this.
If early Rachel Green is wearing it, you know it's good.
I would not choose to sport the veil headpiece thing, but the dress is close to wonderful. What a pretty bodice. I'm glad Rachel didn't marry Barry, but I'm thrilled she almost married Barry, in small part because it gave us this dress.
10.No: Cristina's dress that was meant for her and Burke's wedding on Grey's Anatomy.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think this dress is ugly by any means.
This is perfect for someone who isn't me.
Mermaid dresses are not meant for my eyes! I can see the world where I think this is a great dress though, if that makes sense. If you love it, I happily agree to disagree. No qualms.
11.Yes: Nell's wedding dress on The Haunting of Hill House.
It's an excellent boho dress.
I'd sell a lot of my clothes for this.
In general, when it comes to wedding dresses, I either want a skirt that twirls when you dance, or I want elegant boho. This is the epitome of the latter. What a stunning back!
12.No: Tamra's dress on The Mindy Project.
I wish this weren't a no.
Some of it is faultless and some of it is so, so bad.
I think the top is fantastic, but the abrupt, mid-leg skirt transition is one of the worst things on this entire list, in my opinion. I'm angry that a top this lovely is forced to live with this bottom.
13.Yes: Rachel's wedding dress on Suits.
I am not a Suits watcher. I know about this dress because (obviously) Meghan Markle played Rachel, the character who wears it, and I think every picture of Meghan Markle ever has been in the news at least once.
This skirt is magnificent.
Something about the fit seems a tad off, but not enough to detract from the overall gorgeousness of this gown. It's wonderful. (I'm ignoring the tiny mesh thing I just noticed on the neckline.)
14.No: Izzie's dress at her and Alex's wedding on Grey's Anatomy.
It don't impress me much.
That's not to say Izzie doesn't look good, because she does, but it's extremely not my taste.
Isn't it hard to walk in dresses with big skirts that start that low? Wouldn't you be like a penguin moving down the aisle?
15.Yes: Phoebe's dress on Friends.
The dress isn't wholly impeccable, but with a few changes, I'd wear it.
It balances classic and unique very well.
If the skirt didn't have those bows/flowers and if the corset situation were shorter, this would be remarkably lovely. I don't know if the latter is a possible alteration at all, but let's assume it is! It's more fun that way.
16.No: Veronica's dress in that Riverdale dream sequence.
The dress feels weird, according to me, the God of Fashion.
There's too much going on.
It has kind of a good version of that mesh stuff I don't normally like, but it all feels a bit gauche-trying-to-be-classy. In addition, there are so many neck things. The necklace needs to leave.
17.Yes: Tahani's dress at her and Jason's wedding on The Good Place.
It's simple and great.
A delightful wedding dress that falls into the background isn't a bad choice.
In general, I prefer a dress without a lot of fixings, and this is perfect in that regard. Sure, it's a tad boring — for sure too boring for Tahani — but I kind of like that. The day isn't about the dress.
18.No: Janet's dress at her and Jason's wedding on The Good Place.
Shout out to Jason Mendonza for appearing as a groom twice on this list.
I am so close to being a fan of this.
I would like it so much more if it didn't have the belt! Like, if there were no belt, and if the mesh at the top were the same color as the rest of the dress, this would be a big win for me.
19.Yes: Claire's dress on Outlander.
This is a good kind of elaborate.
Assuming I would be able to breathe, which is a big assumption, I want to try this on at least once in my life.
Can you imagine the way it would feel? So powerful and fancy. Okay, yes, I'd feel less relaxed than I'd want to be if I were getting married, but I could just wear the dress all the time in advance, until it becomes comfortable. That's feasible, right?
20.No: Callie's wedding dress on Grey's Anatomy.
I would run from this.
The bottom and the sleeves — dear god, the sleeves — are big issues.
If I were in a wedding dress shop and my friend were like, "Hey, what about this one?" I would be like, "Do you know me at all, Taylor Swift?" (I'm assuming she's my friend in this alternate universe.)
21.Yes: Jess's wedding dress on New Girl.
The final product isn't an A+, but I LOVE the idea.
Let's make more short dresses!
If I knew anything about making clothes and/or magic, I would buy this dress and make the sleeves longer. Don't tell me if that's not possible. I don't want to know.

Nope. Nah. No, thank you.
It errs too much on the side of bad.
I can't get past the fabric – which looks plastic-y – and the back – which suffers from an infection of "giant, icky bow." If those elements were better, this might be a different story.
23.Yes: Shiv's wedding dress on Succession.
In the world of the show, this was probably millions and millions of dollars.
Shiv is far too cold and filthy New York rich for this dress, but that doesn't mean it isn't beautiful.
The only thing I don't like is the basic neckline, which I wish were more original or noteworthy. But that's it. Everything else is great.
24.No: Daphne's first wedding dress on Frasier.
This is a bad gown masquerading as a good gown.
I thought this dress was terrific, but then I looked at it a little bit longer, and I was like...ah, no.
The long bodice is not the move with this fabric. I do not support it. Plus, like I said with Pam's dress on The Office, I'm not positive about tiny straps on wedding dresses.
25.Yes: The wedding dress Olivia wears in an alternate universe on Scandal.
Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) would look fantastic in anything.
This dress isn't 100% perfect, but it's certainly very nice.
The fabric on the top and the sparkly belt are what make this not a complete and total yay for me, but the silhouette is stellar. She looks fantastic.
26.No: Cristina's dress at her and Owen's wedding on Grey's Anatomy.
Like Cristina's other dress, this may be right for some people, but it's not right for me.
I'm all for a more casual type of wedding dress, but I need it to have some pizazz.
The sleeves, the neckline, and this length without any big skirt are deal breakers. I could be down for a non-white dress, though, and this is a good color.

If I owned this, I'd wear this any chance I could get.
Child me adored this dress so hard — like, so hard.
Even though I love love love it less now as an adult (definite no to the flower on the back), the dress is still aces. It's one of the few sparkly wedding dresses I enjoy.
