5.Scream
This year's fifth installment of the franchise features a new queer scream queen, Mindy, played by Yellowjackets' Jasmin Savoy Brown. Plus, the entire Scream series is canon queer cinema, and you can't change my mind.

6.Thor: Love and Thunder
OK, despite what the trailer might have hinted, I don't think we're going to see Chris on Chris action in the new Thor film (unless...?), but Tessa Thompson has hinted various times that Valkyrie's queerness may be explored more explicitly as she searches for a queen to rule New Asgard beside her.

7.Benedetta
In 17th century Italy, a young girl is taken in by a convent and becomes a phenomenon thanks to her powerful visions, which she uses to rise in the ranks of the convent and hide her lesbian affair with a fellow nun. This genre-defying Cannes favorite is such a wild ride — the homemade dildo carved from a Virgin Mary statuette is far from the most shocking thing you'll see on screen.

9.Downton Abbey: A New Era
OK, I know what you're thinking. Downton Abbey!? But hear me out. Fan-favorite butler Thomas Barrow, whose queerness has been explored earlier in the series and in the first film, has a shot at a glamorous new romance in A New Era with movie star Guy Dexter. Could this snarky antihero finally find his happy ending?

In this indie romantic thriller, three close friends have a wild night out in the Tenderloin District in San Francisco, the world's first legally designated transgender district. This semi-autobiographical story features a legendary trans cast, including Trace Lysette, Alexandra Grey, and reigning Drag Race All-Star winner Kylie Sonique Love.

In this period drama set in 1950s Brighton, England, policeman Tom marries a schoolteacher while maintaining a secret relationship with Patrick, a museum curator. Based on the 2012 Bethan Roberts novel of the same name.

13.Whistler Camp
Blumhouse continues to spin real-world horror stories into thought-provoking social commentary with Whistler Camp, and this time, their crosshairs are aimed at conversion therapy. Three-time Oscar nominee John Logan directs, and early press promises the film is a "queer empowerment story."

14.Am I OK?
This Sundance darling, directed by wife and wife team Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, follows Lucy, a 32-year-old Angeleno who realizes she's a lesbian, and her best friend Jane, who prepares to move abroad.

15.Framing Agnes
Director Chase Joynt expands her 2019 short of the same title in this documentary that explores the idea of the "trans icon." The film combines fiction and nonfiction as a group of trans actors explore the case of a trans woman who participated in a UCLA health study in the 1960s.

16.Hellraiser
Clive Barker's 1987 Hellraiser is regarded as a queer horror classic thanks to its fluid depiction of sexuality and exploration of S&M, and this 2022 remake reportedly closely follows the original source material, Barker's 1986 novel The Hellbound Heart.
Plus, this cast is queer AF: Trans actress Jamie Clayton has been cast as the iconic Pinhead, and queer TV heartthrobs Brandon Flynn and Adam Faison have been cast in undisclosed roles.
