100 animals seized from Lancaster County property

Jun. 25—The Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals seized 100 animals from a property on Pumping Station Road in Eden Township, Lancaster County, Friday.

A PSPCA statement on the incident said the organization received a complaint from a good Samaritan regarding a large number of animals at the property living in poor conditions.

"When officers visited the property on Thursday, the concerns in the complaint were confirmed. The officer viewed extremely unsanitary conditions inside the property," the statement said.

The PSPCA humane law enforcement officers returned to the property near Quarryville Friday and seized 11 dogs, 27 cats, five horses, four sheep, one goat, two turkeys, 32 chicks, four guinea hens, six hens and eight baby ducks. The dogs, cats, chickens and ducklings were brought to the PSPCA's Philadelphia headquarters while the horses, sheep and goat were taken to the organization's Danville Center in Montour County.

All of the animals were surrendered and will be available for adoption after medical examinations are conducted.

"The investigation into animal cruelty and neglect is ongoing, and charges are pending the conclusion of the full investigation," the statement said.
