Your favorite stars earn big money, so it makes sense that they want to protect their assets. Admittedly unconventional for the average person, many stars — or the brands they represent — have taken out insurance policies on portions of their famous anatomy.

If the body part in question sustains an injury, they’ll still be able to cash in. This might seem a bit extreme, but it’s actually a savvy business move because it ensures they’re covered in the event of an accident.

In fact, some celebrities don’t stop at just one body part — they’ve made sure multiple portions of their physique are financially protected. Of course, any star famous enough to insure even one body part is a pretty big deal, so the policies they take out are worth serious cash.

David Beckham

Professional soccer star David Beckham retired from the sport in 2013, but before that, he made sure his famous limbs were protected — financially speaking. In 2006, he insured his legs for approximately $140 million through Lloyd’s of London. Clearly, he knew that bending it like Beckham came with the risk of a career-ending injury, so he took measures to ensure he’d still be flush with cash if he was forced into early retirement.

In 2016, Mariah Carey embarked on her “Sweet Fantasy” tour, but preparations involved more than just rehearsals. The iconic diva took out a $35 million insurance policy on her voice and another $35 million policy on her legs, according to TMZ.

At first glance, this might seem excessive, but it was actually brilliant. If Carey would’ve sustained a vocal cord or leg injury that caused her to cancel shows or end the tour early, she had insurance money to fall back on.

Daniel Craig

After starring in five James Bond films, Daniel Craig announced “No Time to Die” — slated for release in October 2021 — would be his last. Playing the role of the illustrious secret agent isn’t something Craig has taken lightly, as he does his own stunts and has sustained numerous on-set injuries over the years.

In fact, he reportedly took out a $9.5 million insurance policy on his entire body before filming the 2008 film “Quantum of Solace,” according to People. It’s unclear whether he’s done the same thing for the other installments in the series.

Jamie Lee Curtis

In 1996, beloved actress Jamie Lee Curtis became the spokeswoman for L’Eggs Pantyhose. To protect its investment, parent company Sara Lee, Corp. took out a $1 million insurance policy on her gams through Lloyd’s of London, according to Newsweek.

No doubt, Sara Lee, Corp. spent a lot of money on the broadcast and print campaign featuring Curtis, so insuring her legs protected its investment. The company reportedly partnered with the actress in an attempt to make pantyhose more alluring to women.

America Ferrera

In 2007, actress America Ferrera — who was starring on “Ugly Betty” at the time — had her smile insured for $10 million by Aquafresh White Trays. The company took out the Lloyd’s of London policy on her smile as part of a promotion designed to raise money for the charity Smiles for Success.

“It’s very flattering to have my smile insured,” Ferrera said, in a statement on the Lloyd’s website. “It’s not something that I ever imagined happening.”

During her time on “Project Runway” — she hosted the reality series from 2004 to 2017 — Heidi Klum’s legs were protected. In 2011, the supermodel confirmed to “Extra” that a client insured her legs for $2 million.

She told then-host Maria Menounos her left leg is worth less than her right, due to a scar she incurred from falling on glass. Klum also offered a look into the insuring process, explaining “Basically, I was in London, and I had to go to this place where they check out your legs.”

Keith Richards

Rolling Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards has literally made some of the most legendary rock ‘n’ roll songs with his bare hands. Therefore, it isn’t too surprising those hands are insured for $1.6 million by Lloyd’s of London.

An original member of the iconic British rock group formed in 1962, Richards and the Rolling Stones are still touring today. Originally slated for summer 2020, their North American “No Filter” tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m thrilled that Venus Breeze thinks my legs are award-worthy and I’m excited to kick off the search for the woman with the best legs in America,” Rihanna said in a Proctor & Gamble press release.

America’s sweetheart Julia Roberts clearly knows her megawatt smile is a massive moneymaker. The actress reportedly has her famous smile insured for $30 million, according to People.

While this is a massive insurance policy, Roberts has serious earning power as a top A-list actress. At the peak of her career, she earned $20 million for the 2000 film “Erin Brockovich,” according to Variety. In 2016, she also garnered $3 million for “Mother’s Day,” which only required her to shoot for four days.

Bruce Springsteen

Rock ‘n’ roll legend Bruce Springsteen is the first artist to score top five-charting albums in each of the last six decades. A voice that valuable certainly needs protection, and “The Boss” has it in the form of a nearly $5 million Lloyd’s of London Insurance policy on his voice.

He released his latest album “Letter to You” in 2020, but Springsteen likely has comfort in knowing he’s covered if he can no longer make new music or perform classics like “Born in the U.S.A.”
