UPDATE: Second teen arrested on murder charges in October Onancock shooting

The Accomack County Sheriff's Office said two teens face murder charges in a fatal October shooting.

At about 3:15 p.m. Oct. 13, Accomack County deputies were called to a crash on Johnson Street in Onancock and learned gunshots had been fired in the area.

They arrived to find 23-year-old Nicholas Kyle Joseph suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff's office. He was first taken to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until he was pronounced dead Oct. 14.

The sheriff's office announced charges against a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both from Onancock, on Monday, Nov. 29. They each face the following:

  • First-degree murder.

  • Second-degree murder.

  • Use of a firearm while committing a robbery.

  • Robbery.

  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

As of Monday evening, the 17-year-old was being held at the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center, and by Tuesday, the 15-year-old had been arrested in Washington, D.C. The sheriff's office said there are no other suspects are being sought.
