Augustine steps in for injured Lyon and U.S. routs Germany

Trey Augustine stepped in for the injured Alex Lyon early in the second period Saturday and helped preserve an easy 6-1 victory for the United States over Germany at the World Championship in Ostrava, Czechia. Lyon, the Detroit Red Wings' main goaltender for most of the season, stopped all 14 shots he faced before leaving the game at 3:27 of the second period. Augustine, the 41st overall pick in 2023 by the Red Wings, stopped 11-of-12 shots over the final 36:33 in his first-ever appearance in this tournament.
