Zoe Ball has shared an emotional family update after her mother, Julia, was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The BBC Radio 2 star took to social media last month to announce she’d be taking some time off work following her mum's diagnosis.

Updating her fans once more, Ball has now thanked her followers for their support and revealed her mother has been moved to a hospice.

The BBC star shared the news as she posted a beautiful Spring photo of a forest filled with bluebells on her Instagram Story.

"Thank you for all your kindness," she wrote, alongside the image. "The messages, letters and cards for our mum mean the world. Strength and love to the many families and folk touched by cancer.

"Holding tight and so grateful to the incredible people looking after our Ma. We pass these bluebells on the way to the hospice. #PancreaticCancer #CancerSucks."

Ball has also been updating her BBC Radio 2 listeners on her heartbreaking family news and even dedicated a Bon Jovi song to "the most amazing paramedics" who helped take her mum to the hospice.

"They were so gentle with her, so kind, very funny and absolutely lovely," she said, on the radio show. "Mum's in hospice now, pretty tough at the moment for the family."

This isn’t the first time Ball has expressed her gratitude to the medical staff overseeing her mother’s care.

She previously explained how she felt "completely in awe of the brilliant doctors, nurses and support teams" looking after her mother following her cancer diagnosis.

"Gratitude to our families and our extended family and friends at home and at work for their support at this time," she wrote, in a previous Instagram post.

The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show airs between 6.30am and 9.30am on BBC Radio 2 every weekday.
