Zelesnkyy appoints Danilov as Ambassador to Moldova

Oleksiy Danilov, former Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) will be dispatched to serve as Kyiv’s Ambassador to Moldova, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his March 29 evening address.

Zelenskyy confirmed he had approved Danilov's appointment.

“For us, Moldova is a vitally important nation both in terms of security challenges in the region and in terms of our bilateral relations,” said the president.

A source earlier told NV that Zelenskyy had offered Danilov the position, describing it as a “strategically important and critical [foreign policy] direction.”

On March 26, Zelenskyy dismissed Danilov as NSDC secretary and appointed Oleksandr Lytvynenko to the post. Lytvynenko had served as head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS).

Danilov was the 13th secretary of Ukraine's NSDC, a post he had held since Oct. 3, 2019.
