Zelenskyy visits troops in Sumy Oblast
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited recovering wounded soldiers and met with the troops of Ukraine’s 117th Territorial Defense Brigade deployed in Sumy Oblast, the president said in a Telegram post on March 27.
“Today [I am] — in the Sumy region; visited our soldiers who are recovering from their injuries,” said Zelenskyy.
According to the message, the injured soldiers, currently undergoing rehabilitation in a local military hospital, fought near Kupiansk (Kharkiv Oblast) and Bakhmut (Donetsk Oblast).
Zelenskyy thanked the defenders for their service and presented them with state awards.
“It is always an honor for me to thank the defenders and award them with state honors; we are proud of our warriors," the president added.

He also visited the base of the 117th Territorial Defense Brigade in the region. He inspected the brigade's command post, battlefield fortifications, and air defense emplacements.
“I’ve inspected trenches, bunkers, firing and command observation posts,” Zelenskyy said.

“We are strengthening our defense. Thank you to everyone involved in this work.”
The brigade’s commander reported to the president on the current situation on the front, singling out the need to counteract Russian guided aerial bombs widely used in the area.
