Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will arrive in Spain with an official visit on May 17, where he will be received by King Felipe VI.

The Spanish Royal Palace announced the visit on May 14, as reported by Europa Press.

The King is scheduled to hold an audience with Zelenskyy at 12:30 p.m. local time, followed by a luncheon in his honor an hour later.

It is currently unknown whether the Ukrainian president will have other meetings in Spain.

The Spanish government has not provided any additional details about Zelenskyy’s visit for security reasons.

On May 13, El Pais reported that Zelensky would visit Madrid in the coming days to sign a bilateral Spanish-Ukrainian security agreement with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

In April, Ukrainian presidential adviser Ihor Zhovkva said that the bilateral agreement between Spain and Ukraine would have “several distinct features” compared to similar documents Kyiv signed with other countries.
