Ukraine has evidence of Russia's intentions to start a war between the Balkan countries, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in comments to African media on Nov. 15.

Russia and its ally Iran are behind the events in Israel, which was attacked by Hamas on Oct. 7, Zelenskyy claimed.

"Pay attention to the Balkans. Believe me, we’re getting information. Russia has a long plan. (We’ve first had) the Middle East — the second distraction will be the Balkans,” Zelenskyy said, and warned of new potential challenges to follow.

“If our partners do nothing now, there will be another explosion, and it will be a new story. Their (the Balkan countries’) relations have been in crisis for a long time. That is why Russia will invest in making sure that one Balkan country (will be) at war with another."

He also mentioned Moldova, where he said the Russians are "beginning to stir up the situation" and are interested in "demolishing" the current pro-European government. Moscow wants to divide the world's help and attention among many countries, Zelenskyy said.

Earlier, Zelenskyy said Russia was considering several scenarios for its war against Ukraine. At the third summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Granada, Spain, on Oct. 5, he said that one of these scenarios is to freeze the war and restore its military potential, with 2028 potentially becoming a critical moment.

"Russia will then have enough power to attack the countries that are in the focus of its expansion. In addition to Ukraine, these are definitely the Baltic states and the countries where Russian troops are present," Zelenskyy said.
