President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will remain in power until his death, and that he will be "taken out of the Kremlin only feet first," the Ukrainian leader told Reuters on May 21.

"Putin is not an independent figure," Zelenskyy claimed. "He is influenced by significant financial interests and Chinese support, making fair dialogue about peace currently impossible."

Zelenskyy described Putin as being in an "information bubble," with a singular focus on destroying Ukraine. "You cannot sit down to talk to a person whose only goal is to destroy you," he explained.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy highlighted ongoing efforts by Ukraine to identify vulnerabilities within the system supporting Putin.

"Presidential elections" in Russia in 2024

Russia held the so-called "presidential election" on March 15-17 in which no opposition politicians participated. On March 18, the Russian Central Election Commission announced that it had "counted" 100% of the protocols and that Putin had allegedly won 87.28% of the vote.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that there was no legitimacy in the imitation of the presidential election in Russia. The White House also said that the "elections" in Russia were unfair.

At the same time, Putin was congratulated on his victory by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the leaders of Venezuela and Nicaragua, Nicolas Maduro and Daniel Ortega, the presidents of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Putin took the "oath" and again assumed the office of "president" of Russia on May 7. This is the fifth presidential term for the Russian dictator.
