Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited his Brazilian counterpart Lula da Silva to visit Kyiv and urged Brazil to actively participate in the first Global Peace Summit that will be held in Switzerland in June, the presidential office reported on April 20.

In a recent interview with Brazilian media, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the significance of international solidarity in the face of Russia's invasion, highlighting the importance of Brazilian support for Ukraine. Zelenskyy noted that the attendance of leaders like Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at international summits demonstrates a global desire for a just peace in Ukraine.

Emphasizing the importance of Brazil's support for Ukraine, Zelenskyy also addressed the challenges of telling the truth about Russia's invasion due to Moscow's longstanding ties and propaganda narratives in Latin America that date back to USSR-era policies.

"And this is a great advantage for you that Brazilian journalists have started to visit Ukraine, understand what is going on here, and then publish this information," he said.

On March 26, Bloomberg reported French President Emmanuel Macron three-day official visit to Brazil, during which he tried to convince Silva to support Kyiv in Russian full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

Historically, Silva has been hesitant to provide military support to Ukraine, citing concerns that U.S. and EU strategies might hinder peace negotiations. In December 2023, while en route to Argentina, Zelenskyy sought a meeting with President Silva, which was not accommodated, underscoring the complex diplomatic interactions surrounding the conflict.
