Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the commissioner for volunteer activities, Natalia Pushkarova, and commissioner for defenders' rights, Aliona Verbytska, with the decrees published on March 30 on the Presidential website.

Decree No. 209/2024 relieves Pushkarova of her duties as the President's commissioner for volunteer activities (non-staff), while Decree No. 208/2024 dismisses Verbytska from her position as the President's commissioner for ensuring the rights of defenders of Ukraine.

The replacements for these officials have not been announced.

Zelenskyy has also removed his longtime friend and business partner from the Kvartal 95 show project, Serhiy Shefir, from the position of First Assistant to the President, as well as Serhiy Trofimov, Mykhailo Radutskyi, and Oleh Ustenko from the positions of presidential advisors.

Natalia Pushkarova: details

Pushkarova, appointed as a non-staff commissioner for volunteer activities on Dec. 4, 2019, had previously served as the coordinator of the Ukrainian President's National Volunteer Alliance.

In March 2023, a petition on the President's Office website called for her dismissal, citing her alleged absence from Ukraine and failure to condemn Russia's actions or initiate projects to aid the Ukrainian Armed Forces and civilians affected by the war. Despite the petition, the president did not take action due to insufficient votes.

The commissioner's main responsibilities involve monitoring the status of volunteer rights and interests, proposing support measures to the President, and ensuring compliance with volunteer rights, etc.
