Arestovych came under a torrent of criticism after he suggested that Ukrainian air defenses shot down Russian Kh-22 cruise missile, causing to fall on an apartment complex on Dnipro, killing 30 civilians. Ukraine’s Air Force subsequently denied the assertion, saying that this particular kind of anti-ship missile remains beyond the reach of Ukrainian anti-air systems.

Honcharenko said he believes Zelesnkyy’s office should officially deny it has any connection to “Arestovych's military imagination.”

“MPs have also appealed to Ukraine's SBU security service, over Arestovych's speculations about the role Ukraine’s air defense could have played in destroying the residential high-rise in Dnipro, to check if those qualify as treason,” Honcharenko wrote.

Russian propaganda has portrayed Arestovych's statement as an “official position” of Ukraine, as if admitting responsibility for the “deaths of civilians.”
