Zayn Malik has revealed that he was kicked off a dating app after he was accused of “catfishing”.

The former One Direction star, 31, who has daughter with former partner Gigi Hadid, tried to find a love using Tinder.

However, his search for love proved so unsuccessful the app incorrectly thought that he was impersonating himself so his account was terminated.

He told Nylon: "Everyone accused me of catfishing. They're like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik's pictures for?’”

Despite his digital search for love, the Pillowtalk singer, who was previously engaged to Perrie Edwards, said that he’s no longer looking for romance, admitting he only sought relationships to feel normal amid intense fame.

He shared: “I'm really content and happy with being single for the first time in my life.

“From 17 to 21, I was in a relationship. I was engaged and [planned to get] married and I didn't know anything about anything at that point.

“I thought I did, because I was 21. I was legally allowed to do everything, but I didn't know s***. From 21 to 27, I was with Gi, and we had a kid, and I didn't really take much time to get to know myself...”

But when Malik does find another partner, he has pledged not to rush things, explaining it would “probably[be] wise bide his time on relationships, rather than 'fully invest' in one person and expect it to be a lifelong commitment.”

Malik and Little Mix singer Edwards, 30, first got together in 2011 with Malik proposing two years later.

They split in 2015 before making it down the aisle with Edwards claiming Malik dumped her via text message.

Following his romance with Edwards, he dated supermodel Gigi Hadid. The pair first dated from 2015 to 2018.

After a brief split, they reconciled, only to break up again in 2019, before reuniting early in 2020 and welcoming their daughter Khai.

They called time on their romance for good in October 2021.
