Yukon High School ends lockdown after student injured in parking lot altercation

Police say a Yukon High School student was injured Friday morning during a parking lot altercation, prompting the school to be placed on lockdown.

A secretary for the district told The Oklahoman the high school is no longer on lockdown.

The Yukon Police Department said on Facebook a female student was confronted in the parking lot by an 18-year-old male with whom she previously had a relationship. The 18-year-old is not affiliated with the school, police said. The altercation left the student with minor injuries for which she was treated on-site.

While other media outlets have reported the student was stabbed, The Oklahoman is working to independently verify this.

The suspect has been identified by police, the Facebook post said, and the department will pursue criminal charges.

"The safety of the school students and staff is our top priority," the police department said.
