‘Karate Kid’ Rivals Are Back in Trailer for New YouTube Red Series ‘Cobra Kai’ (Video)

The “Karate Kid” rivalry between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) continues in the new YouTube Red original series “Cobra Kai,” which premieres on May 2.

More than 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, the former rivals lead disparate lives: Daniel runs a successful string of car dealerships in Encino, while Johnny’s life is far from picture-perfect. Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai karate dojo, influencing a new generation of karate kids, and reigniting the rivalry between him and Daniel.

“I’m going to teach you the style of karate that was taught to me,” Zabka said in the trailer to a new recruit. “A method of fighting your pansy a– generation desperately needs.”
