Young boy with Muscular Dystrophy gets surprise from Dothan Police on birthday

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A young boy turning six this past weekend got a special surprise from the boys in blue.

Kace Perez was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2023. The National Library of Medicine describes DMD as one of the most severe forms of inherited muscular dystrophy and causes progressive muscle fiber degeneration and weakness.

During his sixth birthday party on Saturday, three officers presented Kace with several gifts, including a Dothan Police Department Badge, which he did not take off.

DPD’s Facebook page post says Kace fell in love with police officers years ago and describes him as a “very tough kid.”
