New York man charged after crashing car into house while overdosing

(WJET/WFXP) — A New York man was taken into custody on multiple charges after allegedly suffering a drug overdose that led him to crash into a house.

Police were called to a residence in Jamestown for a car into a house around 11:24 a.m. on Wednesday where they reportedly found 39-year-old Justin K. Kopta, of Jamestown, overdosing next to his car.

Witnesses on the scene said Kopta was backing into his driveway when he crashed into the house.

After investigating, officers searched Kopta as well as his car, allegedly finding fentanyl and methamphetamine, and determined he was driving while under the influence of a narcotic with a suspended license.

Kopta was transported to a local hospital for treatment and then transported to the City of Jamestown Jail where he was charged with driving while intoxicated drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, unsafe backing and aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd.

He has since been released with appearance tickets to appear in court at an undisclosed date and time.
