York County man charged with homicide for infant’s death

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A lengthy investigation into a baby’s death last February has led to homicide charges being filed against a York County man, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Sean Deibert Jr., 20, of York City, faces charges of criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of a child stemming from the eight-month-old’s death.

“The presentment, which resulted from a lengthy investigation, is a testament to the value of the
grand jury and the police who never stopped working to provide justice in this case,” York County District Attorney Dave Sunday said.

According to the Grand Jury presentment, Deibert fatally injured the child “by means of forceful, repeated, and severe shaking, impact, compression, and loading, and that the cumulative effect.”.

The injuries that were “devasting and pervasive” to the infant included injuries to its brain, skull, scalp, brainstem, neck, cervical cord, spinal cord, and back.

Deibert is currently locked up in York County Prison with his bail denied and awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 25.
