Yogi Recalls Nearly 900,000 Tea Bags Over Excessive Contamination Concerns

Yogi has issued a massive recall of one of its varieties of teas, and customers should take heed to protect themselves from potential dangers.

Parent company East West Tea Company, LLC's recall is regarding 54,846 boxes of Yogi tea bags distributed nationwide due to “pesticide residues detected above action levels,” according to a U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) report with an initiation date of March 2024.

The potentially affected items are 16-count boxes of Organic Yogi Echinacea Immune Support tea bags displaying UPC code 76950 45010 3.

Neither East West Tea Company nor the government entity have issued an official press release for this recall, so there is no guarantee retailers will accept the item for refund or replacement. However, consumers who have any of the listed products on hand are warned to discard them immediately.

At the time of publishing, there have been no reports of illness as a result of consumption of the tea, and the recall is listed as "Class III," meaning that ingestion is unlikely to cause adverse health consequences.
