Yoder would bring experience as township trustee to Holmes commissioner seat

Ervin D. Yoder is a lifelong Holmes Countian who hopes to become a commissioner.

He is opposing Republican Joe Miller for his seat in the March 19 primary election.

Five Republicans are vying for the Holmes County commissioner seat held by Ray Eyler, who is not seeking reelection after serving four terms.

Facing off for his seat are Dave Crilow, Holley Johnson, Steve Johnson, Dustin Kaufman and Eric Strouse.

The Daily Record is featuring each candidate in stories. See profiles of Steve Johnson, David Crilow, Dustin Kaufman and Eric Strouse at The-Daily-Record.com.

Yoder brings experience serving the past six years as a Mechanic Township trustee, as well as serving on the fire department and the Holmes County Sheriff's Office.

"I grew up in Holmes County. I was born and raised here," he said. "I think just growing up here and seeing how things have been done my entire lifetimes give me an idea how to get things done."

He believes the biggest issue facing Holmes County is an ongoing issue with traffic.

"I see traffic as a major issue, but there has been some improvements made," Yoder said. "It takes time to get to all the roads. I've got to do some of them in the township, widening roads and things like that.

"We had a business move into the township and we moved an intersection," he added. "We just have to try and do what is best for the county."

Yoder said the fast growth in Holmes County has been good for the many small businesses in the area.

"There are a lot of good people," he said.
