Yelp 4-star restaurant in Kennewick closes

A Kennewick restaurant that aimed to elevate the brunch game in the Tri-Cities is no more.

Bougie Brunch closed indefinitely because of “unforeseen circumstances,” the restaurant announced in a Feb. 5 post on Facebook.

Veteran business owners Lore’K and Chris Garofola opened the restaurant in the old home of the Kennewick Chicken Shack, 3320 W. Kennewick Ave., in 2022. It quickly gained a following and enjoyed a four-star rating out of 74 reviews on Yelp.

One Las Vegas visitor praised the beers on tap and promised to return, observing that the place was a whole vibe.

“Lots of girls friend groups sucking down champagne and laughing it up,” said the five-star review.

The Garofolas aimed to provide a high-end, fancy breakfast and lunch spot that echoed Palm Springs, where they spend much of their time.

The restaurant offered a classic brunch menu with a lengthy list of crepes and waffles alongside savory fare such as avocado toast, a hangover burger accompanied by tots, buffalo chicken strips, burgers and more.

The ambitious bar menu featured mimosas flights, bloody mary cocktails loaded with garnishes, well drinks, wine and other drinks.

When the restaurant opened, Lore’K Garofola told the Tri-City Herald she and her husband hoped to bring the colors and tastes of the Southwest to the Mid-Columbia.

“There’s nothing out there like it, it’s going to be our own concept,” she said.

The Garofolas own several other food service businesses, including Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon at Columbia Center mall.

The restaurant’s phone number was not accepting messages on Tuesday and the Garofolas were not available to talk about their decision.

The property is not currently listed for sale or lease, but archived data indicate it has 4,163 square feet and easy access to Highway 395 in central Kennewick.
