Yasiel Puig, outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is staying busy during this long, boring, cold, baseball-less offseason. He visited Rome, Spain, Paris, and Cuba. He sold special #SantaPuigYourFriend sweatshirts for the holidays. He stopped by a McDonalds to make Big Macs. And on Thursday, he revealed his latest activity: a haircut.

Well, it was technically a haircut, but it was actually a lot more than that. Puig let kids take the scissors, or in this case the electric razor, and give him a new ‘do. And they weren’t just any kids.

Puig and the Dodgers invited 11 kids from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, kids who are battling cancer, to Dodger Stadium to shave Puig’s head for Puig’s Pizza and Shave Party. Puig, who routinely says on his Twitter account that children inspire him, wanted to shave his head in solidarity with the kids, some of whom have lost their hair due to cancer treatments. And when Puig spoke to MLB.com’s Ken Gurnick about it, he was very passionate.

“I get excited to do this for the kids,” said Puig. “These kids are fighting for their lives. I want to come here for the kids. I like children. Sometimes they have situations like these with cancer, spend a lot of time in the hospital, have a lot of surgeries. Maybe this makes them excited, and that’s why I want to do something for the kids. And I like it.”

And not only did the kids look like they were having a great time, Puig was clearly having an absolute ball in the barber’s chair.

This might be the coolest and most fun way for a baseball player to get his head shaved. Puig should go down to Cedars-Sinai once a month and let the kids shave his head. A fun time would be had by all!
