Yard goats take the field at Connecticut College

Jun. 11—NEW LONDON — This team is set to win against an invasive species.

Saanen-Nubian cross, Saanen and alpine goats are staying on a 2-acre area at the Connecticut College sports complex on a trial run of seeing how successful they are at eating the Japanese knotweed, which is taking over that area.

The goats are from Goatscapers, part of Sanctuary of Hope in Hope, R.I. Just a few of the goats are rescues, others were brought in by the sanctuary when it started farming.

The goats arrived Wednesday in their Goat Coach, which they can take shelter in whenever they want, and will be staying until Sunday night.
