‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ is really kicking off…

And it looks as though Angelina Jolie or Jessica Chastain could join the cast.

According to film journalist Jeff Sneider, it looks as though 20th Century Fox is eyeing a big name for the upcoming ‘X-Men’ sequel… and he suggests that Angelina Jolie is on their list.

But it’s not a dead cert.

“I think Angelina Jolie needs to reassert her commercial viability and needs to do a big movie,” he said on Meet the Movie Press. “And if it’s not Dark Phoenix, which I don’t think it will be, Then I think that she should do Bride of Frankenstein.”

Of course, Angelina Jolie has long been rumoured for the title role in ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ – one of the upcoming instalments of Universal’s new Monsters franchise. Will she end up as the iconic bride, or nab a role in the upcoming ‘X-Men’ movie?

Either way, her name is in the mix it seems…

But there’s another high-profile actress also rumoured for the unknown role.

“I said on the podcast that I don’t think she’s going to do it,” he said of Jolie via Twitter. “But… we may get a DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY reunion instead ;)”

Of course, the actress he’s referring to is the always-excellent Jessica Chastain… and I for one would be thrilled to see her in her very own superhero role. But at the moment, we still have no idea what this role might be.

So, for now we’ll have to wait and see.

‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ will presumably see the return of Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are also rumoured to return.

Simon Kinberg is rumoured to direct the movie, based on his own script.

‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ heads to cinemas on 2 November 2018.
