Wyandotte man wins 2nd big Michigan Lottery prize in a decade

A Wyandotte man recently won his second large Michigan Lottery prize in 10 years.

Ronald Durham, 64, won $25,000 a year for life when his Lucky For Life ticket matched the five white balls drawn May 2 — 29-30-34-46-48, according to the Michigan Lottery.

"I play Lucky For Life every day and I always check the numbers online after the drawing," Durham told the Michigan Lottery. “I checked the winning numbers as usual in the morning, and when I saw I won $25,000 a year for life, I was shocked!"

He purchased his ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 12990 Fort. St. in Southgate. He opted to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000 instead of annuity payments of $25,000 a year for 20 years or life, whichever is greater.

And this wasn't the first major win for Durham. In 2014, he won a $250,000 Keno jackpot.

"... it’s hard to believe I’ve won another big prize less than 10 years later," he said. "I feel like the luckiest person in Michigan!”

Durham said he plans to use the money to travel and save the rest.
