WWHS senior Kayla Hamb signs to play softball at WVU-Tech

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — A Raleigh County athlete said playing softball for West Virginia University-Institute of Technology will keep her close to family while allowing her to play for her favorite coach.

On Friday, March 1, 2024, Katelyn Hamb of Woodrow Wilson High School signed on the dotted line for a letter of intent to play softball on WVU Tech Head Softball Coach Amber Atha’s college team.

“I have a niece and a nephew here, so I wanted to stay home to get to watch them grow,” Kayla said. “I also wanted to stay home because, for the past four years, I have worked with ‘Coach A,’ and I just grew to really like her.”
