Wright-Patterson incident: All-clear given after reports of active shooter at air force base hospital in Ohio
The all-clear has been given by authorities after reports of an active shooter at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton in Ohio.
Local media outlets reported that an alert was sent to personnel at the base that read: “Emergency responders are enroute. All WPAFB Gates are Closed. All personnel take cover. Limit all communication to emergency use only.”
The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said that base security forces and firefighters were responding to the reports and that other base personnel had been advised to shelter where they are until an investigation is completed. They later said that the someone had called 911 believing there was an incident, but it turned out not to be an active shooter situation.
The base said that the incident involved one of the buildings of the base hospital. The military medical centre has more than 4,000 annual admissions annually, according to its license.
At approximately 12:40 p.m., base emergency responders (security forces, fire department) responded to a reported Active Shooter incident at the base hospital.

Emergency dispatch reports indicated the Ohio State Highway Patrol shut down surrounding roads for a time.
Nearby Wright State University said the incident posed no threat to its campus.
