TAUNTON — "I'm not satisfied with either party," said Rick Ames, who voted Republican at his polling location, Joseph H. Martin Middle School in the Presidential Primaries in Taunton on Tuesday.

Ames said he voted for Donald Trump, just like he did back in 2020, but begrudgingly, as he felt a vote for Nikki Haley would "fall on deaf ears."

Ames added he feels the GOP's selection of candidates this primary was worse than prior years, but that wasn't going to deter his vote.

"Biden has messed this country up," Ames said.

"I wouldn't say I'm satisfied," about the options, said Carmelo Calderon, standing outside the Elizabeth Pole polling site after voting. "But you need to exercise your right to vote. It's a responsibility."

Calderon is a registered Independent, but voted for incumbent Joe Biden in this Presidential Primary, just like he did in 2020.

"I definitely wasn't going to vote for Trump," Calderon said.

"It's been kind of quiet here," said Jean Smith, warden for polling precinct 3A, located at Elizabeth Pole Elementary School. By 2 p.m. on Super Tuesday, only 151 votes were recorded. precinct 3B, also at Elizabeth Pole, only had 190 around this time. She attributes this to the increase in options voters have now, like early voting and mail-in and absentee ballots.

The lack of enthusiasm doesn't represent all voters at the polls.

Brenda and Michael Mitchell said they are satisfied and had no qualms over the selection of Republican candidates.

"Look at the mess we have in office," said Brenda Mitchell, referring to President Joseph Biden.

The Mitchells voted for Trump in 2020, they voted for Trump in this Presidential Primary, and said they will definitely be voting for him this November. More action against illegal immigration is a main priority for them, they said, also standing outside Elizabeth Pole.
