What’s the worst seat at Petco Park?
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/ KUSI) — When choosing where to watch the Padres at Petco Park, you may want to avoid a particular seat, according to a recent study.
With Opening Day sweeping the nation Thursday, researchers at bookies.com — an online source for legal sports betting — decided to figure which seats are the worst at each MLB ballpark.
Petco Park: What’s new to see this season
While determining where fans should avoid sitting, the researchers scored each of the 30 ballparks on a 0-10 scale in each of the following six categories:
View obstruction from seat
Distance from home plate
Plate/seat angle
Exposure to sun, rain and weather elements
Proximity to concessions and restrooms
Overall comfort
The best possible score would be 60 out 60 (indicating a great seat), and lowest possible score would be 0 out 60 (indicating a terrible seat), according to the bookies.com scale.
Their data was pulled from multiple sources, including all 30 MLB team websites, official 2D and 3D seating charts, stadium maps, TicketMaster, SeatGeek, aviewfrommyseat.com, sfgate.com and twincities.com.
Through this study, the researchers determined that the worst seat at Petco Park is Section 309, Row 9, Seat 24, which goes for $57 the first game this seat is available after Opening Day.
Overall, bookies.com ranked the worst seat out all the MLB ballpark to be Section 1, Row 1, Seat 1 at the Red Sox’s Fenway Park, followed by the Cubs seat in Section 428, Row 1, Seat 2 at Wrigley Field.
