The "World's Loneliest Dog" Just Became a Movie Star

From Good Housekeeping

Once the "World's Loneliest Dog," Freya the Staffordshire bull terrier now has friends in high places, and more importantly, a forever family after spending six long years in a shelter.

Ever since she was a puppy, Freya lived at Freshfields Animal Rescue in England, where over 18,000 potential owners passed her by. "She has been here many years now and is constantly overlooked, which breaks our hearts as we adore her," Deputy Kennel Manager Kate Jones told Metro.co.uk this spring. "We do not understand why she has been overlooked for so long."

Her chances didn't improve when the pup developed epilepsy. Freya's condition requires special medication along with blood tests every three months, putting off potential adopters.

Luckily, the sad story caught the attention of the media, including famous filmmaker Michael Bay. The Transformers director cast the canine in the series' fifth film, and promised to find her a new home, even if it was his own.

Finally given a chance, Freya charmed not only costar Sir Anthony Hopkins, but also her two rescuers. The adoption became official this summer, and Freya's been enjoying her new A-list life ever since.

There's no word yet on whether Freya will attend the premiere of Transformers: The Last Knight next spring, but her performance will undoubtedly be award-worthy.
